Botulinum toxin (BoCoture by Merz) is an injectable medicine that can be used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. The toxin relaxes the muscles and prevents muscle contractions (the movements responsible for dynamic lines). Toxin is a protein that works on the receptors of the muscle cells and prevents the muscle signalling, causing muscle contractions.

Medical uses:

• Hyperhidrosis (excess sweating in areas such as the axilla [armpits] or palms).

• Migraine

• Bruxism (grinding teeth)

Cosmetic uses:
Multiple areas of the face (advanced upper and lower), frown lines, forehead, crow’s feet, brow lift, bunny lines, to relax the nasal muscles that can pull the tip of the nose down when smiling, downturned mouth, chin pitting, lip flip, neck and more.

Contraindications to treatment apply for patients with significant neurological disease such as Lambert-Eaton, Myasthenia gravis and Multiple Sclerosis. This is always checked during the consent process prior to your treatment. Prices start at £280.
